Download (Version 4.0 and later)

Whether you have recently purchased AdvancedChecker and are electronically downloading your copy, or are upgrading your version, simply follow these steps to install AdvancedChecker. Please remember that this is a powerful program and we highly recommend you read all the documentation mentioned in the installation scripts and related files. Please contact us if you have any problems.

Version 4.00 Patch #2 (the current version) was released on Jan 27, 2006. It fixed a small bug wherein calls to the Rights functions that would (correctly) fail due to lack of privilege would fail only upon the first call. Subsequent calls erroneously succeed returning an "empty" Rights policy.

Note: We currently maintain an download page for versions prior to 4.00. Go...

  • Purchase Customers (...who are electronically downloading)
  • You need an Installation Code to install the main AdvancedChecker software that you download in Step 1, below. This code will be conveyed to you by your Trusted Systems sales representative by phone, E-mail, or will be printed on your sales invoice.

  • Upgrade Customers
  • For all free upgrades, just run the install program you download in Step 1. The installer detects your preexisting installation and upgrades it keeping the same licensing parameters. (It does not change your Editor settings or Master Host List files.) Alternately, you can de-install AdvancedChecker and run the installer, in which case you need to enter the same Installation Code as in your previous installs.
  • Note:  Before you run any of your preexisting scripts, please see the notes on Upgrading (your scripts) at the beginning of the online Checker Language Manual (available in the Editor and on your Start Menu).

1.  Main Application Setup Program

Download the main "setup" program (about 5 Mbytes) that installs the AdvancedChecker application, the Checker Editor, and supporting programs and documentation. Simply run this setup program and follow the directions. Unless you are upgrading an existing installation, you'll need to enter an Installation Code and the script will tell you if you need to proceed to "Step 2."

  • Download the version 4.0 main application setup file (*.EXE)

This is a relatively benign installation that replaces no Windows NT DLL's or standard system components. It can be deinstalled from the Control Panel. At the beginning of this setup program you will be given the option of doing a full install or only extracting the Installation Notes (a text file) which explains the installation process in a bit more detail.

2.  Script Libraries

The setup programs include the latest "script libraries." If you intend to use these scripts, make sure you read about a handy feature called "Include Libraries" in the manual.

3.  Learn & Explore

The installation scripts and Installation Notes suggest things to read and try. However, a few important hints:

  • The Online Tutorial (on your Start Menu) is a great introduction to basics of AdvancedChecker. We highly recommend it.

  • There's hardly a better way to learn about AdvancedChecker than reading its manual front-to-back. (The latter half are its built-in functions that you can usually skim.) The language manual is also online under the Checker Editor's Help menu.

  • The Script Library is a collection of ready-to-use and example scripts, some quite straightforward and some quite involved. The scripts called "General Policies" are the highest level and easiest to use, and serve as gateway into most of the library. (LP)
